My Family

I am the mother of five beautiful, busy daughters ages 15, 12, 8, 6 & 3. They keep my husband and I on our toes each and every day.  I have been married to my amazing husband for almost 18 years.  He is a tremendous support and "partner in crime."  He helps me with all the "technical" issues. Without him, things would be a lot harder. I love and appreciate all he does to help me.

I enjoy "date nights" with my honey, music, activites with my girls, watching softball and soccer games that my girls participate in, teaching music to my girls, going to movies, popcorn, chips-n-salsa, reading, teaching music to my students, netflix, The Walking Dead & Vampire Diaries
(yes, I am a Zombie and Vampire Lover!)

I graduated from Bear River High School in 1996 where I was involved in the Madrigal Choir, Concert Choir, Drama & Student Council.  I performed at solo Ensemble Festivals & State Drama & Choir Competitions. I also played the piano in a Jazz band during the spring and Summer of 1996.  I loved every minute.

I have 15 years of teaching experience. I began teaching piano and voice in 1996, during my Senior year of High School.  I have been teaching  ever since.  I did take a five year break when baby number four and five were born.  Over the course of 10 years I have studied with some of the best professional voice instructors in the state of Utah, including a fabulous voice coach at Utah State University.  I started playing the piano in the 3rd grade and had private instruction for 10 years. I have been playing ever since.

I have several years of "performing" experience.  I have participated in various functions where I have performed piano and vocal solos or accompanied others.  Often times I will accompany myself while I sing.  I have participated and placed in pageants when first out of high school.  I sang and performed a "French Aria,"and The Phantom of the Opera's "Think of Me" that includes a lengthly run and an octave jump at the end of the song. I also memorized and performed a zippy little ragtime piece on the piano the following year.

I believe that the "theory" of music is essential and has to be learned. However, my specialty is teaching students Musical Presentation and enjoyment.  My desire is to teach them to play with emotion and to be able to "feel" the rhythms. To be able to put their heart and soul in everything they  play or sing is the ultimate benefit and reward that music has to offer.   When a piece is performed, the music is completely changed due to "how it was presented." Music is meant to be a "feel good" activity. You can express things through music that can't be expressed in words.

Learning to play music is a self-esteem builder. My goal with each student is to teach them to be confinent in what they do and develop a love of music by learning to express themselves "through" it.  There is nothing else like it.  Music is good, Music is fun.  I LOVE MUSIC!

"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent"
